Frequently Asked Questions:
Got a query that's been tickling your brain? Don't fret, we're here to tickle it even more!
Stage requirements:
WE DO NOT REQUIRE A STAGE: Many clients have the band play ‘on the floor’. That’s great for us and can save you money! The band will bring our own elevated stage boxes which act like mini-stages for each performer:
SURFACE AREA must be a flat, dry, smooth level surface to set up on, such as a dance floor, asphalt parking lot, wood covered deck, a traditional concert stage (covered in wood or carpet), a flat level concrete driveway, patio covered with pavers, etc. We cannot set up on: bare grass, gravel, dirt, uneven pavement, or any surface that is not flat, dry and level.
IF YOU ARE PROVIDING A STAGE: Any stage must be at least 16’ wide x 16’ deep. It’s possible we can squeeze on a 16’ wide x 12’ deep stage but will compromise our show by not allowing as many light fixtures and will restrict our choreography. Any stage smaller than that is not worth having, or will be used as a drum riser and the rest of the band will set up in front of it. The height of the stage can be 6” to 2 feet. Lower height for smaller audiences and venues, taller stages for larger venues. Most weddings stages are 12”-18” tall. Most festival stages are 2’ - 3’ tall. Any stage that you provide should be oriented to be wider than deeper. The band will not bring it’s own stage; do not own any stage equipment.
ELECTRICITY: We need four (4) dedicated twenty-amp circuits within 50 feet of stage. We will bring our own heavy gauge extension cords to run to your outlets as long as they are within 50 feet. Most houses or modern commercial buildings have enough electricity to meet this requirement. An old building with 80 year old knob-and-tube wiring or an old barn or an extension cord run 300 yards into a cornfield probably does won’t work. If you are not sure, please consult with your Band Leader. Sometimes clients will rent a commercial diesel generator for remote locations
OVERHEAD RAIN PROTECTION FOR OUTDOOR LOCATIONS: If you are having the band perform outdoors, we strongly advise that you provide some overhead protection.
Examples: overhead awning; temporary stage roof (usually made of tarp material provided by your stage company, pitched to drain water), a tent over the entire band, having the band perform on a covered porch, an garage with wide open doors, etc. It is very risky to place the band in a location with no overhead protection.
If you put us in a location with insufficient wet protection, then if we get wet, we pack up and go home. No exceptions. We will still enforce full payment per the contract.
The band will only set up once. The band will not set up twice. It is advisable that you plan for an alternate location indoors or under cover to direct the band to set up upon arrival in the event of a bad weather forecast.
We can travel any distance from our hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. We have performed in New Jersey, South Carolina, Michigan and even Key West, Florida.
If you've seen NKG, you know our bar/nightclub shows are intense and over-the-top. Yet for weddings, we customize our set list, show elements, and even our etiquette to be 100% family friendly and professional, but still highly interactive. This is slightly different than public bar/nightclub shows, and NKG is exceptional at listening to our clients, reading the crowd, and creating a show unique to each event. For weddings the cast and crew will wear professional work shirts before guests arrive, and then clean professional suits the entire night, including during the performance. Our goal is to please all of your guests regardless of age, tastes, or background.

YES! We have coordinated over 500 ceremonies. We provide all music before, during, and after the ceremony; we help create a ceremony timeline sheet with all the details you need for your family and vendors, down to the minute.
Yes we can! The price generally $300 to $500, and in most cases this is not included in your original contract with the band. You do not need to decide this until you have the Details Meeting with the band leader. Then you can discuss what you need and the band leader will give you a firm price quote, and you will include that add-on fee in your final payment. Here are examples:
Ceremony Music - NKG Band to provide amplified music for ceremony from a playlist customized based on Client’s selections/preference. To include: 30 minutes of selected prelude music prior to ceremony; selected songs for seating of the parents and special guests; selected songs for presentation of bridesmaids and groomsmen; selected song for bridal march; special songs for segments of ceremony; selected songs for recessional; 30 minutes of postlude music. All music to be pre-programmed (Ipod, Spotify, etc), amplified through NBKG's PA sound system
Ceremony Microphones - NKG to provide two mics on mic stands to be amplified through NKG's PA sound system. Or you can request lapel mics.
Project Management of Ceremony - the Ceremony will be added to NKG's timeline for your event and our Band Leader will help coordinate the order of events for the Ceremony such as Bridal Part processional, cueing of songs, etc.
Fee: If the Ceremony is in the same location as the live band is set up and the band can use it's main PA for the ceremony & also live performance after dinner, i.e. 'all in one room', fee = $295. If a 2nd PA speaker system is needed for the Ceremony vs where the live band is set up (such as Ceremony is in a different room or outside but the live band is inside), fee = $495
YES! Several of our cast and crew have years of experience. All DJ services are already covered in the "All Inclusive" package.
The deposit to hold NKG for any date is $950 and the remainder balance is due two (2) weeks before your big day. We accept checks by mail and credit cards payments through squareup.com
Yes, but we strongly prefer you pay in one lump payment per the contract which is 1-2 weeks before the wedding date.. We do not like a lot of small scheduled payments, it’s very hard to keep track of.
For WEDDINGS: you can mail us an paper check to the address on the contract, or you can request an online invoice that you can pay by card. It will come from Squareup.com. Note: if you elect to pay the final balance by card, there will be a 3% convenience fee. However, once you receive the Squareup invoice, you may print it out and mail us a paper check and skip the 3% fee.
Yes, absolutely. NKG has performed many SS wedding receptions.
YES! We love extra ideas that make a party unique. We've arranged special mash-up songs, hosted karaoke battles, snuck our entire band on a yacht to surprise the bride, passed out glow sticks, let the Father-of-the-Bride play drums, etc etc. We will take your vision and make it a reality, no matter how crazy!
Our band has a cast of 12+ members and often performs in two places at once. We employ a network of dedicated musician performers. All of our entertainers are full-time professional musicians who work full-time with our group. We have multiple members for each instrument, and this allows us to perform multiple shows in the same day.
If you have signed a contract, your date is locked in and guaranteed
All of our performers are strictly trained to learn the exact arrangements of our songs and show.
